Congratulations Kabir
Kabir Kaul, a former Cameron Bespolka Trust Young Ambassador (2019-2022), has been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in the King’s Birthday Honours list for services to Nature.

Kabir's BEM recognises his environmental advocacy work since 2018, a significant part of which includes his work with the Trust. He first worked with the Trust after attending the 2018 and 2019 Bird Camps.
A highlight of his time with us was initiating and leading the ‘70 Nestboxes for 70 Years’ project during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Together with CJ Wildlife and Swift Conservation, the aim was to donate seventy nestboxes to seventy schools across London to engage children with nature. However, the project far exceeded its target: 106 schools across London received nestboxes, engaging 59,000 children, with 20 schools also receiving Swift boxes.
We are so proud of Kabir and are thrilled that we have been been part of his journey.
Since leaving the Trust, he has given many talks at Cameron’s Cottage in the New Forest, including at the 2025 Young Nature Writers’ Camp.
Kabir served on the RSPB Youth Council (2019-2025), and was part of the Mayor of London’s Rewilding Taskforce (2022-2023). He is currently studying geography at the University of Birmingham.
This award is in recognition of everything he has achieved and all that he has done for nature. We are so proud of him and are thrilled that we have been been part of his journey.
Kabir invited to No. 10 Downing Street and presented the Prime Minister with a nest box which now hangs in the garden. June 2022
