Cycling for Cameron
Race Across America: June 2017
Dear Supporter

When I first found out that my dad and seven of his friends were going to enter Race Across America this summer in memory of Cameron, I had no idea about the scale of the race they were about to undertake. They have entered as an eight man team who will cycle non-stop across America. They will be supported by fourteen crew members who will navigate them over 3000 miles and crossing twelve States of America. Every part of the journey has been planned in minute detail from the route to food stops (very important!), riders change over, petrol stops, shower breaks, to the various official check-in points. It is truly one of the hardest races in the world and I am so excited to be part of it.

We are all doing this in memory of my brother Cameron, who passed away in 2013. My family and I have set up a Trust in his memory to inspire children to love and appreciate the outdoors. We are fundraising to create a place where children can come and stay and experience birds and nature first hand, namely Cameron’s Cottage.
Megan's dad, Kevin Bespolka, putting in the training miles

I decided to become a crew member because I want to help my dad and I want to do everything I can to honour my brother’s memory and make him proud of the work we are doing. Being a crew member is nothing compared to the hard work and training that the eight racers have been doing. They are so nearly ready to embark on the longest ride of their lives. In just under 3 weeks, on 17th June, they will start the Race Across America from Oceanside California and they hope to finish just 7 days later in Annapolis, Maryland.

Please help support my dad and his friends. No donation is ever too small. Please also know that the racers and my family are covering all costs for the race, so everything you donate, goes directly to the charity. Or just tell your friends about Cameron, our charity and our hope to spread Cameron’s love of birds and nature. We appreciate everything!

Love Megan x
